Work is currently underway in partnership with Lake Macquarie City Council to revitalise the iconic Awaba House. Following a devastating fire in 2019, the heritage-listed building is being carefully restored, with key heritage elements retained as part of a comprehensive interior and exterior refurbishment. A contemporary extension will also be added, transforming the site into a modern function centre for the local community.

The project features several complex construction elements, including a post-tensioned off-form concrete roof and curved rammed earth walls requiring a high level of technical expertise and coordination.
