OUR CULTURE
Murloo represents both a physical and spiritual “meeting place” where stories are shared, futures are built and people come together.
The concentric circle — the meeting place — is a powerful cultural symbol and central to our identity. For Murloo, it reflects our role as a connector of people, purpose and place. Like Marlo, it anchors us to Country and community, reminding us that everything we build is grounded in respect, integrity and shared vision.
Our name is inspired by Marlo — a coastal town where the Snowy River meets the sea, surrounded by cliffs, sand flats and white clay bluffs. Known as Murloo, it is a traditional meeting place rich in story, spirit and connection. It reflects our bond with Country, our heritage, and our mission to lead a new era in Indigenous construction excellence.
For Murloo’s founders, Jake and Blake, this connection is deeply personal. Marlo is Blake’s ancestral home — and the place where the two first met. They return often as a place to reset and spend time with family and friends.
OUR NAME
GUNAIKURNAI
Murloo is proudly grounded in the culture of Gunaikurnai people, the Traditional Owners of East Gippsland. Our roots run deep in this part of Victoria, from the mountains to the sea.
The lands of the Gunaikurnai people stretch across much of Gippsland, from Warragul in the west to the Snowy River in the east. For generations, these lands have sustained rich cultural traditions, with deep ties to water, forest, and coastline that continue to shape Gunaikurnai identity today.
OUR LORE
At the heart of our operations lies LORE-a system framework that not only guides how we work, but also reflects the deep cultural values of Indigenous communities. In many First Nations cultures, Lore represents the body of knowledge, customs, and responsibilities passed down through generations. It governs relationships—with people, with Country, and with the future.
LISTEN
We begin by listening—deeply and respectfully—to our clients, communities, and Country. This reflects the Indigenous practice of learning through observation, story, and shared experience.
OPERATE
We deliver with integrity, using disciplined systems and transparent processes that reflect our commitment to accountability and respect.
REFLECT
We pause to reflect, ensuring our actions align with our values and responsibilities. This mirrors the cultural practice of reviewing outcomes to maintain balance and uphold trust.
EVOLVE
We adapt and grow, just as Indigenous Lore evolves through generations creating opportunities, embracing innovation, and strengthening our legacy.
